Switching

How to switch commercial
cleaning companies.

Get the new company's walkthrough and written scope first, then give notice to the current one, and set the new start date for the day after the old service ends. Change alarm codes and collect keys on the handover day.

Most switches happen because work slipped and nobody answered. Here's the order that avoids a week of overflowing trash in between.

Step by step

Before notice

  • Read your contract's notice period
  • Write down what's been going wrong
  • Have the new company walk the building
  • Approve the new written scope and price

Notice

  • Give notice in writing
  • Agree the last service date
  • Set the new start for the next day

Handover

  • Collect keys and fobs from the old company
  • Change alarm codes
  • Walk the building with the new crew lead
  • Check the first visit against the scope

Can I switch cleaning companies in the middle of a contract?

Usually yes, with the notice the contract asks for, often 30 days. If the company isn't doing what the contract says, document it in writing; repeated missed work is often grounds to end it sooner.

Get a written scope and a fixed monthly price.

We walk the building, write every room and frequency down, and send the price within a few days of the visit. No contract to read yet. Just a visit.
